Technical Engineer

Job Definition

The Technical Engineer will ensure that all orders received are ready for production in line with the demand, including tooling, NC programs, fixtures and any other items needed to complete the manufacturing process. The Technical Engineer is the key point of contact for all technical queries including supporting any issues during the production process, whilst ensuring the daily support to assist the planning team to ensure the production plan is feasible. The ability to work to tight timescales is imperative due to the urgent nature of sub contract manufacturing.  

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing for the company to be automation-ready, through to putting automation live

  • 'Super-setter' for current operators

  • Work with Tooling Technician on fulfilling tooling, fixtures and equipment requirements across the shop floor, enabling work to flow smoothly

  • Ensure that all orders received are ready for production in line with the demand, including tooling, NC programs, fixtures and any other items needed to complete the manufacturing process.

  • Assisting the Technical Team in programming

  • Task management through understanding of workflow

  • Work to the ActionPlas values

 
Skills

  • Competent in producing complex parts to a high degree of accuracy using various CNC machines and CADCAM software

  • Experience of FeatureCAM would be advantageous, but other CAM software experience is beneficial for this role

  • Precision engineering/manufacturing background - HNC/HND or strong technical background within CNC and manual machining

  • Able to read technical drawings and identify a viable method for manufacture

  • Solid knowledge of tooling, jigs and fixtures

  • Wide understanding of production and workflow

  • Excellent communicator across various depts and customers
